GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Civil/Structural Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role responsible for supporting the design, analysis, and development of civil and structural systems within various projects. Under the supervision of senior engineers, this position involves assisting in the preparation of specifications, calculations, and drawings for equipment, components, and structures. The Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet safety, functionality, and regulatory standards. This role provides the opportunity for professional development through hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of civil and structural engineering tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
• Gather and evaluate vendor drawings, catalogs, technical manuals, and project documentation to contribute to the development of engineering specifications for project components, structures, and systems.
• Perform engineering calculations and basic structural analysis to support the design process.
• Prepare initial design sketches, diagrams, and conceptual layouts that align with project specifications and industry standards.
• Review vendor drawings and specifications for compliance with project requirements, design codes, and industry standards.
• Ensure that all materials and components are suitable for use in structural designs.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth communication and project delivery.
• Provide input on project timelines, budgets, and milestones to help ensure alignment with client expectations.
• Ensure all design work and construction activities comply with applicable safety standards and codes (e.g., OSHA, local and international standards).
• Participate in risk assessments and ensure that all engineering practices meet or exceed health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) requirements.
• Ensure that all engineering designs, calculations, and construction specifications follow company quality control processes.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation for design processes, changes, and approvals.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest civil/structural engineering technologies, tools, and techniques.
• Seek opportunities for skill enhancement and certification (e.g., EIT to PE) through internal training and external resources.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Bachelor’s Degree from ABET Accredited Institution
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations for equipment operation.
• Strong ability to perform complex engineering calculations, interpret data, and solve problems related to structural design, materials selection, and system performance.
• Familiarity with engineering design software (AutoCAD, STAAD, RISA, etc.) and an understanding of engineering principles, materials, and construction methods.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to clients, team members, and stakeholders. Ability to prepare detailed reports, specifications, and documentation.
• Understanding of local, state, and international building codes, as well as industry standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASTM) to ensure that designs comply with safety regulations
• Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and sustainable engineering practices to support environmentally friendly designs and practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to project success while building positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks, prioritizing assignments, and meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
• Ability to proactively identify challenges in design or execution and develop practical, efficient solutions.
• Ability to evaluate potential project risks related to design, cost, or schedule, and assist in developing mitigation strategies

• Primary duties involve office-based work, including engineering calculations, design work, and meetings. Have the physical ability to operate office equipment such as computers and printers for extended periods
• Occasional site visits to offshore platforms or construction sites to perform inspections or gather data may be required. These visits may involve walking, climbing, and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions.
• The ability to lift up to 30 pounds for carrying materials or equipment on-site during inspections or evaluations.
• Ability to move freely around the site to perform inspections, monitor construction progress, and engage in on-site meetings. May involve navigating uneven surfaces, ladders, or scaffolding.
• Ability to read detailed technical drawings, manuals, and specifications, and perform detailed engineering calculations and design work. Must have full visual acuity for reading fine print and interpreting complex diagrams.

• On-site construction environment with exposure to various weather conditions and terrain.
• This role is primarily office-based, with some required travel to construction yards, or project locations for site assessments and inspections.
• During field assignments, the employee may be exposed to outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures, high winds, and rain. Work will be performed in areas where heavy machinery is in operation and where safety precautions must be followed at all times.
