Java Backend Developer
Location: Fully Remote/WFH
Duration: 6 Months with strong possibility for Extension
Max rate: W2 acceptable
About the team
Client's Digital One encompasses several integrated banking modules that will deliver an omni- channel banking experience for our customers and their employees, with a unified user experience and real-time access to customer, account and transactional data across all banking channels.
What you will be doing
We have several needs for API developers working in Java/Spring environments for our expanding modernization efforts. We are hoping to hire candidates from a variety of experience levels from entry level to senior in order to diversify our team and bring various ideas to the table.
• Provide application software development services and technical support across a suite of financial software products
• Develop program logic for new applications or analyze and modify logic in existing applications
• Code, test, debug, document, implement and maintain software applications
• Design and develop APIs using with Java & Spring.
• Maintain, test and integrate application components.
• Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code
• Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented
• Analyze requirements and translate business requirements into product designs
• Write technical specifications and other forms of documentation
• Suggest technical alternatives and improves/streamlines processes and systems
• Complete project assignments and special projects commensurate with job expectations
• Participate in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy vs. build recommendations
• Provide leadership and/or guidance to other technical professionals
• Other related duties assigned as needed
• Work in Agile environment following Scrum Methodologies.
What you bring:
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
• Previous work experience with Spring framework
• Knowledge of RESTful API services
• Experience in supporting and/or implementing complex integration projects.
• Knowledge of MongoDB, Apache Kafka, and Kubernetes
• Working experience in Agile framework
• In-depth knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Experience in using version control systems like SVN or Bit Bucket
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
• Willingness to share relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources
• Excellent problem-solving, team and time management skills
• Resourceful and proactive information gathering and sharing skills.

Added bonus if you have:
• Experience using Atlassian tools (Jira, Bit-Bucket)

• Working knowledge of multiple IDEs and debug utilities
• Working knowledge of test-driven development

Requires a broad knowledge of the system development life cycle; products, services, practices, regulations and operations associated with the assigned line(s) of business; and software engineering alternatives. Requires proficiency in at least two higher-level programming languages. Evaluates systems specifications for complex business requirements, develops and prepares computer-based solutions. Analyzes problems in terms of detailed equipment requirements and capabilities, including those related to scalable applications, and cloud-based resources. Verifies program logic by preparing test data for trial runs. Receives general supervision and is competent to work at the highest level of all technical phases of software engineering while working on own or in a team environment most of the time. May be involved in providing assistance and training to lower level software engineers.
Typically requires seven or more years software engineering work experience.
