Junior Software Engineer (Project Based) Boulder Accelerator Program (June-August 2024) Boulder, Colorado, USA Who you are: You are a deep thinking, problem solving, figure it out person that has an entrepreneurial spirit of getting things done. As a team member in this program, you’ll have the opportunity to help SumUp address global challenges. As an ideal candidate, you can wear many hats and who are unafraid to dip their toes into engineering, product, design and whatever other fields are needed to get the job done. We're looking for an intrinsically motivated engineer, unafraid to take on new challenges who is eager to explore new solutions to old challenges. What this program is about: We are excited to introduce a Junior Software Engineering Accelerator Program in our Boulder, Colorado office. This program aims to provide Junior (0-2 years) Engineers with practical experience in software engineering while fostering innovation and forward-thinking methodologies in our global company. You will have the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and potentially secure a full-time position upon completion of the program which will last 3 months. As a company supporting over 4 million merchants in 36 countries, you’ll be able to get your hands dirty focusing on projects with global impact. What you’ll do: Participants will undergo a comprehensive onboarding process during the initial two days to familiarize themselves with SumUp Engage in real SumUp projects under the guidance of experienced professionals, contributing to products slated for real-world production Participants will be paired with mentors who will provide guidance and support throughout the program Receive regular feedback on performance and undergo evaluation at the end of the program Participants will be considered for full-time positions within SumUp upon successful completion of the program Ideally, here is the background you have: An understanding fundamental system architecture, software design principles, data modeling, and API design A pragmatic problem solving ability and are fearless in taking the lead in finding the right solution to a problem Great communication skills and are passionate about software design and prioritize simplicity Familiarity with a scripting language and a compiled language. We use Python, TypeScript and Kotlin You are open to feedback and have a collaborative approach to teamwork with excellent problem-solving skills A pride for engineering and have a keen sense of ownership of the work that you do Software or Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related studies and recent bootcamp graduates or comparable experience are welcome to apply Who we are: Business owners are at the heart of everything we do at SumUp, which is why we create powerful, easy-to-use financial solutions to help them.
