Job Description

The web developer will have technical responsibility for the department website including design, architecture, programming, and content maintenance. In addition to the department website this position is responsible for building and maintaining web-based applications for the department, some of which will access back-end databases, custom built applications or third party tools. Some special projects will include creating online database queries, working with a JSP based application, controlled access environments for collaboration, and a site redesign. Needs to be able to work on projects independently as well as work well in a team environment. Technical ability, an eye for usability design, and strong written and verbal communications are required. Skills: Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of experience developing rich interactive user interfaces for web applications for consumers and enterprises. Expert knowledge in HTML5 and CSS3. Expert knowledge in Django APIs. Expert knowledge in TypeScript and JavaScript development. Expert knowledge with the latest REACT and Angular frameworks (11 and higher). Hands-on experience with Node.js/NPM, Bootstrap, or similar framework. Experience with UI/UX prototyping tools. Experience with UI testing tools like Selenium. Excellent verbal and written communication / documentation skills. 5+ years experience in web development, fluent in HTML, CSS, CGI, JavaScript and experience with JSP, database design and desktop publishing required. The ideal candidate will also have experience with PHP, Java, Flash, Oracle, SAP, XML, and content management; strong communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines; possess a strong customer service focus and the ability to leverage best practices. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with mainstream Python, Django, and Node.js frameworks is a must. Understanding of modern deployment architectures using containers, API Gateways, load balancers, and cloud-based environments is a plus. Education: BS/MS EE/CS/CE (or related departments) with a minimum of 5+ years of related experience.
